At least one SPLA soldier was killed and another one wounded in a shooting targeting two SPLA vehicles on the road between Raja and Boro Medina in Western Bahr el Ghazal State of South Sudan last week.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Raja County Commissioner James Benjamin accused the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) of laying the ambush on the two SPLA vehicles on 15 January.
He said the vehicles were carrying salaries of soldiers. The official added that the incident resulted in the killing of one soldier and wounding of another, while three others managed to escape.
Benjamin indicated that the attackers burned the two military vehicles to ashes. He claimed that the ambush was laid by a group of 11 LRA soldiers seen in the area.
