Residents of Amadi State have urged the government to repair the Luri River Bridge to facilitate the movement of people from Juba to Western Equatoria region.
The appeal was made on Wednesday when the country’s Vice-President, James Wani Igga organized a public rally in the state. Igga was on an official visit to the state to disseminate peace.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the deputy state governor, Manasseh Deboy said they submitted to Igga a paper containing local residents’ demands for the bridge to be repaired.
He pointed out that the bridge affects the movement of citizens during rainy seasons. Manasseh said the vice president pledged to ensure that the national government prioritizes the issue of the bridge in its programs.
The bridge lies on a road connecting Juba to Western Equatoria and beyond into Bahr al Ghazal.
