The Governor of Amadi State, Joseph Ngere Pachiko, says the UN World Food Programme (WFP) has restarted distributing food rations to hunger-affected communities in his state.

Ngere told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that WFP has stopped distribution of food nearly a year ago due to insecurity concerns in the area.

He added that Mundri, Kotobe and Nyeri Counties have received food rations while Bahr Grinti and Bangolo Counties are yet to receive their rations.

According to the governor, so far more than 50 people have died of hunger between June and July this year in Amadi state.
