Amadi State government has vowed to support persons with disabilities within the state by backing self-reliance projects.
On Monday, Amadi state joined the rest of the world to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with the theme “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.”
Amadi state Minister of Social Welfare, Kituwa Lui Alex was speaking on Monday during the celebration in Maridi Town.
“People with disability presented some proposal during the celebration that is why we have committed ourselves to support their projects,” she said.
Lui added, “the handicapped are part of the community, so they should be involved in everything.”
She revealed that the number of persons with disabilities in Mundri is more than 300, most of whom are elderly.
