Journalists of Al-Tayyar newspaper late on Thursday ended their hunger strike over the newspaper’s suspension.
The Sudanese journalists had launched a hunger strike to protest what they called “arbitrary procedure” against the press and the suspension of al-Tayyar newspaper since 2015.
Medical examiners found that the strikers have lost weight since beginning the strike earlier this week but their health is stable.
Meanwhile, the Sudanese Journalists’ Network (SJN) organized a “day of solidarity” with Al-Tayyar journalists on Thursday with participation of dozens of poets, artists and prominent community members.
Faisal Mohamed Saleh, a prominent journalist told Radio Tamazuj that they have staged this solidarity day to stand with Al-Tayyar’s journalists and to show that their case is for all journalists.
