Al Muktahr PHCC in Wau resumes normal operations after a year

The Al Muktahr Primary Health Care Centre in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal state which was turned into a Covid-19 isolation center last year has been given a green light to resume its normal operations since Wednesday.

The Al Muktahr Primary Health Care Centre in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal state which was turned into a Covid-19 isolation center last year has been given a green light to resume its normal operations since Wednesday. 

This comes after the isolation centre was relocated to Wau Teaching Hospital by the state ministry of health early last month.

The state director-general in the health ministry James Ambrose Uchini, said, "Today we are officially announcing the reopening the isolation center of Muktahr in Western Bahr el Ghazal state Wau to give the services and nutrition services to the people of Wau town. We are very happy as government to announce to the public that the center is ready to provide the services to them after we closed and moved the isolation center to Wau Teaching Hospital."  

Dr. Francis Michael Hassan who is in charge of the PHCC said the centre will provide, "The basic services we have is consultations, the delivery of EPI services that is the vaccinations and apart from that, we offer referral services to Wau Teaching Hospital." 

He assured the public that despite Al-Muktahr being a Covid-19 isolation centre, it is safe because it has been fully disinfected.

For his part, Chief John Ufo welcomed the move saying," Am very happy because the citizens were suffering during the past period going far to the hospital and high treatment costs, am very happy with the government for opening the Al-Muktahr primary health care centre."
