Al-Intibaha named Sudan’s most popular newspaper

The National Council for Press and Publications on Tuesday announced in Khartoum in its annual report on newspaper circulations that the political daily Al-Intibaha topped the chart for its category.

The reports released Tuesday at a press conference said that Al Dar topped the social (entertainment) category, while Kura (Football) was the leading sports newspaper.

Al-Intibaha is part owned by President Omar al-Bashir’s uncle Al-Tayeb Mustafa, who is also publisher of Al-Saiha newspaper.

The report put the number of the daily newspapers in Sudan at 49 of which 30 are full daily newspapers, 12 are sports dailies and 7 are social daily newspapers with at an average total daily circulation of 320,580 copies a day.
