Al-Hurriya Football Club Juba, competing in Juba’s second-tier local league, has initiated preparations for the upcoming 2023/2024 season.
The club recently conducted a brief preparatory camp in Terekeka, which included three friendly matches against Al-Wahda FC, the reigning champion of the local South Sudan Cup in Terekeka for the past two seasons, Al-Hurriya FC Terekeka, and Terekeka Stars Football Club. The friendly matches concluded with victories of 4-1, 5-1, and 2-1 in favour of Al-Hurriya FC Juba.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Dr. Joseph Mandi, President of Al-Hurriya FC, shared the purpose of the preparatory camp, stating, “We aimed to assess the players’ physical fitness and their readiness for the upcoming season. We are pleased with their performance in the three friendly matches, and it’s clear that our players have improved their fitness levels since the start of our preparations. This indicates our readiness for the new season.”
Charles John, the Head Coach of Al-Hurriya FC Juba, emphasized that the camp’s goal was to evaluate the team’s readiness, which they successfully achieved by winning all three friendly matches. He praised the competition among the clubs and stated, “The camp went well, and the level of competition with other clubs was highly satisfactory.”
The preparatory camp in Terekeka was attended by the club’s president and several members of the Board of Directors. Al-Hurriya FC Juba will commence the new season with a match against Jamus FC next Wednesday as part of the first round of the Juba Local League Cup 2023/2024.
