Al-Fula residents complain of high living costs

Local residents in Al-Fula town in Sudan’s West Kordofan State have complained that the cost of living has gone up considerably especially for essential commodities in the area.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, several residents said that the prices of basic food commodities have risen significantly. They further said a sack of millet is now sold at 600 SDG from 500 SDG while a 50kg sack of sugar is now sold at 640 SDG from 540 SDG in recent days.

The added that a kilogram of lamb has risen from 80 SDG to 100 SDG while that of beef has risen to 80 SDG from 50 SDG.

Experts expect the prices to continue to rise as the Sudanese Pound continues to weaken against foreign currencies due to the US decision to extend sanctions against Sudan for three more months.
