This year’s graduation at the Al Daein University in Sudan’s East Darfur State will be held on November on 20, the Council announced.
A Council meeting on Saturday said the graduation would involve 755 students, except those from the colleges of medicine, general surgery and laboratories, who would continue studying for another four months.
The Council also approved the continuation of the postgraduate programs and distance education.
The Secretary of Academic Affairs, Prof Khaled Abu Hala, told Radio Tamazuj that the meeting was held to assess the academic situation in all the colleges, to determine the date for the graduation.
“The council listened to reports on the academic situation from the deans of the colleges, and based on those reports, set October 30, 2024 as the date for announcing the results of the final exams, and November 1 for the alternative and supplementary exams,” Prof Hala said.
He also announced the resumption of studies at the College of Graduate Studies and Distance Education.
A student of the College of Nursing, Abu Bakr Ismael, said that they sat for exams on Saturday morning and thanked the university and the civil administration in East Darfur for the efforts to facilitate learning, despite the challenging circumstances.
“We thank the Ministry of Higher Education for approving the continuation of studies and hope that the war would stop in Sudan to enable all the students to return,” he said.
Dar Al-Naeem Abdel-Baggi Bishara expressed her happiness at the end of the exams, adding that she was currently working on her research.
Studies resumed at the Al Daein University months ago, following the financial support from the civil society and the state government. The Federal Ministry of Finance stopped financial disbursements to government universities following the outbreak of war on April 15 last year.
