Al-Burhan back in Sudan after visiting the United Arab Emirates

The President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, returned to Sudan on Sunday after concluding a four-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to the official Sudan News Agency, SUNA, Al-Burhan was accompanied by Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, Director of the General Intelligence Service Gen. Ahmed Ibrahim Ali Mufaddal, Director-General of the Defense Industries System Gen. Mirghani Idris and Chairman of the Sudanese Businessmen Union Hisham Hassan Al-Subat.

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement that Burhan’s visit to the UAE dealt with the progress of the bilateral relations between the two countries and issues of mutual concern, focusing on the economics. 

He added that the visit also discussed the current situation in Sudan and the efforts of the state to achieve national consensus to stabilize the transitional period, leading to free and fair elections and handing over power to an elected civilian government.

Ali Al-Sadiq noted that the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces assured of their full support for a national consensus that leads to the stability of Sudan.

He pointed out that the Sudanese and Emirati sides agreed to establish big strategic economic partnerships in the fields of roads, ports, railways, cooperation in the military field, and exchange of experiences.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs announced an agreement between the two governments and the private sector in the two countries to support the Sudanese banks with considerable sums to enable them to play their role in boosting the Sudanese economy.
