The newly appointed governor of Akobo State has vowed to restore peace and peaceful coexistence among local communities and their neighbours in the greater Jonglei region.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, the state governor, Timothy Taban Juch said he will work in collaboration with all communities in the state to build peace and ensure efficient service delivery.

He also pledged to work with his counterparts in the region in order to build confidence and trust among communities in greater Jonglei.

“In the coming weeks, we will go to disseminate peace messages among the people of Akobo. The people of Akobo are cut off because the area has been controlled by the opposition since the war broke out in 2013,” Taban said.

He urged the locals to cooperate with him in his quest for peace, adding that those with complaints should approach him. Governor Taban said peace will pave way for the delivery of education and health services.
