The Ajuet community in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state has protested not to be annexed with newly created Lol State, which Salva Kiir claimed to create by decree on 2 October, saying the citizens of the area would have to be governed from a new state capital at Raja.

Dut Diing Akol, Ajuet community leader, said they are not happy to join Lol state because their community members nowadays also live Aweil which Kiir wanted to separate as part of another state.

He added that they will write soon a petition to Kiir requesting him to cut Ajuet community from Lol State and merge them to Aweil State or Aweil East State.

The community has been governed by Aweil West County since the peace agreement of 2005. The community leader said they have had troubles in the past ten years because their community wants to be part of Aweil Town or Aweil East County.

“We were in struggling with the government since the signing of the CPA because we were merged to Aweil West while most our territories reached to Aweil Town and borders with Luo community. We are not going to be part of Lol State but we accept to be in Aweil State or Aweil East state,” he said.
