The situation in Renk County of Upper Nile State has returned to calm after clashes on Monday, according to Col. Philip Aguer.
SPLA-Juba and SPLA-IO forces fought in the Dukduk area north of Renk on Monday resulting in at least five dead on the SPLA-Juba side and an unconfirmed number on the SPLA-IO side.
The area where the clashes took place is controlled by the SPLA-Juba forces, suggesting that the SPLA-IO forces launched attacks there in violation of the cessation of hostilities agreement.
Speaking on Radio Miraya on Tuesday, Col. Aguer said, “This morning the situation is quite relatively stable SPLA is in full control of Dukduk and the surroundings.”
