Agriculture ministry looted on independence eve in Juba

Offices South Sudan’s ministry of agriculture and food security in Juba were forcefully broken into and looted by armed criminals on independence eve, an official said.

The Director-General of the ministry, Matthew Ado told Radio Tamazuj that on the night of the independence day, 8th of July, a group of criminals broke into some of their offices and made away with goods of unknown value.

Ado said among the offices ransacked were the office of the minister, the deputy minister and undersecretary.

He pointed out that only electronic devices which contain confidential ministry information were taken away. Ado added that no cash was looted during the incident.

The official added that nobody has been arrested in connection to the incident.
