In a press statement to Alshrooq TV, the committee head Abdullah Idris said they discussed measures that must be coordinated with the state authorities, especially the protection to make sure all citizens exercise their democratic and national rights effectively by participating in the electoral process.

Sudan’s National Elections Commission (NEC) announced earlier that voting process in the upcoming elections will take place in April 2015.

Abdullah further said the commission intends to disseminate the list of voters in order to amend the electoral register after the restoration of West Kordofan state, which was annexed to South Kordofan in 2005.

He pointed out that about 10 of out 34 geographical constituencies in the state have now gone to neighbouring West Kordofan state.

Abdullah added that there will be a major drive in the coming few days to enlighten citizens about their rights for the success of the upcoming elections.
