African official holds talks with Sudan’s chief negotiator

The AU Commissioner for Peace and Security, Ambassador Ramadan Al-mamra held talks in Addis Ababa with Pagan Amum Ukec, secretary-general of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement and the chief negotiator for South Sudan in negotiations with Sudan under auspices by the African Union mediation.

The AU mediator said in a statement issued yesterday that during the meeting the two sides reviewed the output of the implementation of the agreements reached in September last year and exchanged views on the current challenges and prospects of finding an early solution to the outstanding issues.

Al-mamra further expressed his confidence that both countries will fully support proposals of the Chairman of the African union mediator and former South African President Thabo Mbeki as well as cooperate fully in the implementation of the recommendations of the Committee, according to the statement.
