Several aerial attacks on Wednesday have threatened residents of Heiban County in the Nuba Mountains. The Sudanese Air Force has dropped eight bombs targeting houses, the residents reported. Several schools were closed following the aerial attacks.
Residents said the Sudanese Air Force dropped also bombs in Kauda, destroying three houses including properties and dropped eight other bombs in Alazrek injuring five people and destroyed three other houses. An eyewitness Harun Alamin reported that an Antonov plane dropped the eight bombs but the heavy bombardment claimed no life.
The governor of South Kordofan, Adam El Faki, confirmed the attacks. He told the newly government website Sudan Views that “Although there are some areas under rebels control in South Kordofan, the security situation in the state is stable. The armed forces hold control across the state. The army may announce recapturing Kauda soon”.
The Sudan Armed Forces have started an offensive in the dry season, but made little progress in Heiban and Kauda area so far.
