Minni Arko Minawi, a leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement, said talks in Ethiopia have failed between his side, the Justice and Equality Movement, and the Sudanese government.
Minawi told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the SLM and JEM called for immediate cessation of military operations in Jebel Marra, West Darfur, and other places in North Darfur.
They asked for the protection of displaced people in Darfur and work to facilitate humanitarian access to the affected people, he said.
The Sudanese government rejected their demands and the talks ended without any breakthrough, according to Minawi. The talks began 23 January in Debre Zeyit, Ethiopia.
