A Sudanese civil society activist has called for the immediate release of 18 people arrested for failing to pay Zakat as demanded of them in the Sudanese town of Babanusa in West Kordofan state.
On Wednesday, the commissioner of Babanusa Locality Adam Egidat and security authorities arrested 18 nomads in Rahad.
A local administrator told Radio Tamazuj that the nomads had agreed to pay Zakat on livestock but they delayed to make the payments as promised.
The activist, Salah Mohammadi said matters relating to the collection of Zakat should be left to the Zakat commission which is entrusted with supervision and collection of Zakat.
