A Sudanese feminist activist has accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of widespread human rights violations, including cases of child recruitment and sexual violations, in Tuti Island in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, which is under RSF control.

Enas Arabi disclosed to Radio Tamazuj the killing of a young man, the arrest of another, and the commission of a rape crime against a girl.

“The RSF are recruiting children on Tuti Island and they have arrested a child whom they accuse of killing one of their members,” she revealed. “The child has been detained for a month and no one his whereabouts.”

Arabi also pointed out the “dire conditions” experienced by the residents of Tuti Island.

“Citizens go out to obtain food by crossing the Nile to Bahri City on boats after obtaining a permit from the RSF which they have to pay for,” she added.

The activist also claimed that goods are only supplied by traders who pay members of the paramilitary outfit or who have relations or affiliations with the RSF.

Arabi warned that the health conditions are in the island are extremely dire which has resulted in numerous deaths.

“The cause of death cannot be determined due to the scarcity of disease diagnosis and the lack of medical and healthcare services in the area,” she concluded.
