South Sudan’s acting army chief Gen. Jok Riak has been discharged from Nairobi Hospital where he underwent a series of medical check-ups.

His family members told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that the top South Sudanese army general has gone to his home at kileleshwa in Nairobi this morning.

“The acting army chief of general staff has been released from hospital after doctors treated him,” said one of family members.

The family further said the acting military chief is in a jovial mood, but it remains unclear whether he will go back to Juba soon or not.

Gen. Jok left the country for Kenya last Thursday after falling sick in Juba.

On Thursday, the government, through the army headquarters, dismissed as fake news information circulating on social media about the state of health of the acting army chief.

The army stated that General Jok was well.
