The Agok Civil Hospital in the disputed area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan will run out of malaria drugs by next week, hospital director Dr. Ayom Karchom told Radio Tamazuj.
Karchom said the hospital is facing “terrible” conditions and a severe shortage of medicines.
He said all the hospital’s medical supplies come from the capital Juba but do not meet the needs of the increasing number of malaria patients.
“Over the last two weeks we recorded about 2,000 patients at the hospital,” he said.
Karchom attributed the spread of malaria disease this year to heavy rain.
