Abyei residents commend return of abducted children

Several residents in the contested area of Abyei expressed happiness about the release of four children abducted from Marial Achack village last month.

Ngok Dinka Chief Bulabek Deng told Radio Tamazuj that they are happy about the release, confirming they have received the four children from the Misseriya tribe.

Bulabek pointed out that the move will open a new chapter between the two tribes.

“Despite the bitterness that we cannot deny, the release of the four children is a good step toward peace,” he said.

For her part, the mother of one of the children expressed her happiness about the return of her son.

She thanked the abductors for heeding to the calls by the mediators.

“This day is a great day because my child was released," she said.
