Residents of Abyei area have appealed to organizations in the area government to repair the Abyei-Agok road, which has been in a deplorable condition.

The residents spoke yesterday in separate interviews with Radio Tamazuj in Abyei area.

Chief Akonon, who hails from Nyiel clan, said the road worsened since the rainy season started as vehicles found it difficult to pass through.

He urged the organizations that are operating in the area, especially the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) to repair the road to reduce the suffering of the people.

He further said heavy rains had destroyed the roads which he said was helping them to transport patients to Agok Hospital for treatment.

The traditional leader pointed out that transport fares have increased because the road is currently in a bad shape after the rains destroyed it.
