Families that fled Abyei last May at the outbreak of fighting are reportedly returning to the area.

'The conditions are almost back to normal and 68,000 are thought to have returned,' said deputy commissioner of Abyei Dew Bol Deng to Radio Tamazuj.

He said they have mainly returned to the Abouk area.
