Public transportation workers in Abyei have gone on strike over a 30 SSP fee imposed by local authorities to each bus leaving the station.

Deng Wek, chairman of public transport union in Abyei, said the decision was surprise to them as there was no written orders.

“The decision is not written it was just a verbal order, we rejects this decision and continue with striking until they cancel it or revise it," Wek said.  

Passengers have complained that the strike has disrupted transport in the area.
