The ministry of health in the disputed region of Abyei is urging students with secondary school certificates in the region to apply to join the health profession, while announcing the beginning of the application process for university intakes.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Abyei health minister Nyanot Mayen called on all students to apply to join institutions across the country that offer healthcare courses.
She said the region suffers a lack of health professionals and that can only be solved by getting as many young people trained as possible to fill the gap. The minister implored the young men and women to enrol for nursing, public health, midwifery, medical assistants, and laboratory technician courses.
Nyanot added that the application process is open to all students and will remain open till the end of October.
