Abyei natives complain of dog meat at market

Residents in the contested area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan say dog meat is being sold at the market.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, several citizens expressed concern about the consumption of unhealthy meats.

Citizens said they caught a butcher with dog meat recently, and called upon the relevant authorities and veterinarians to monitor slaughter houses before such products reach market.

They also expressed concern that beef is being sold that does not meet hygiene standards.
