The Sudanese co-chair of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee (AJOC) has announced he will meet with his South Sudanese counterpart by late February regarding the disputed area of Abyei between the two countries.

Sudan’s AJOC co-chair Hassan Ali Nemir told the Sudanese Media Centre (SMC) on Wednesday that the agenda of the meeting and the venue will be determined by the African Union.

Meetings of the two sides stopped for a long period of time with the Sudanese government accusing South Sudan of violating agreements signed between the two sides under the auspices of the African Union.
