Abyei hospital receiving 'twice as many' patients a week

The Director of the Abyei hospital announced he has been receiving 800 patients every week, attributing the problem to the large amount of individuals returning to the area ahead of the referendum.

"The hospital lacks medicine because we receive more than 800 patients a week. In the past we used to receive 400 patients a week," Director Ayom Karsok explained.

Karsok confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that many patients arrive suffering of malaria and different types of infections. Nevertheless, he predicts that the situation may improve in the upcoming dry season.

The doctor is urging the concerned authorities to provide enough medicines to the hospital.
