Abyei administrator to establish judicial system

The Head of Abyei Administrative Area in South Sudan Chol Deng Alak said they intend to establish a judicial system in the contested area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan.

The Head of Abyei Administrative Area in South Sudan Chol Deng Alak said they intend to establish a judicial system in the contested area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan.

In a press statement to Abyei Today newsletter, Alak said the judicial system will be established for the first time in Abyei. He further said the process may take time, but predicted that its arrangements will be completed within a month.

The ex-South Sudan ambassador to Moscow pointed out that the administration will bring a first class judge with Supreme Court powers as well as other two judges who will adjudicate cases in the area.

Abyei area received a new head of the administration two weeks ago.
