The chief adminstrator of the Abyei Administrative Area on Monday called on the South Sudanese ministry of livestock to send a team to the area to vaccinate livestock.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Kuol Alor Kuol said cattle from Misseriya nomads and pastoralists from neighbouring Twic and Aweil states have assembled in the area for pasture and water. He added that the livestock are now prone to different diseases
"This amount of cattle needs to be injected to prevent disease,” he said.
Kuol revealed that last week he met the minister of livestock and briefed him of situation.
He noted that the minister promised to send a team to vaccinate the livestock in the region despite the economic crunch the country is facing.
