The head of the Abyei Administrative Area Chol Deng Alak said they are ready to protect Misseriya herders and their cattle from criminals in the neighboring states of South Sudan.
Alak made this statement during his visit to Aweil town with a delegation from Ngok Dinka leaders to recover Misseriya cattle that were raided by cattle raiders from neighboring Northern Bahr el Ghazal.
Alak told Radio Tamazuj that Ngok Dinka and Misseriya have historic ties and relations and it is necessary to keep this relationship between them.
He stated that his administrative has a plan to protect Misseriya herders and their cattle from criminals from neighboring states to Abyei.
“We have agreed to set a plan to monitor those criminals who comes from outside and enter Abyei to raid cattle and take it to Twic or Aweil East state or even former Warrap state including Gogrial and Tonj states,” he said. “We want to set this plan to avoid these incidents and try to put these cattle in one place wherever they found and to recover them when raided and handed to their owners.”
“From our part in Abyei Administrative area and the government of South Sudan we want to reaffirm that we are for a peaceful coexistence between our neighbors from the Republic of Sudan in general and Misseriya in particular,” he explained.
