Abyei Administration says community police to be trained by UN

The Abyei Area Administration has announced arrangements with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) to train about 300 community police personnel in the south of the Abyei area.

The Abyei Area Administration has announced arrangements with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) to train about 300 community police personnel in the south of the Abyei area.

The police force is expected to be stationed in areas of Marial Ajak, Rumamer, Lou, and Abyei town in order to provide protect to civilians in the area.

The oil-rich Abyei area remains contested between Sudan and South Sudan, and hosts UNISFA, an Ethiopian-manned peacekeeping force.
