At least 150 pupils at Aguat Primary School have received free uniforms and school materials in Gomjuer East Payam, Aweil West County of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
Aweil West County Commissioner, Marko Majok Piol, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the school material was donated by a group of South Sudanese in the diaspora.
“There was support from Aweil Sisters in Diaspora, they donated clothes to the children and every pupil in the school received a shirt and a trouser,” Majok said.
The commissioner added that the community is also requesting assistance to fence the school.
Northern Bahr el Ghazal education minister Santino Bol Akok appreciated the move and commended the South Sudanese in Diaspora for supporting their communities back home.
“The initiative is a joint collective responsibility and we are happy as the state ministry of general education for our sisters who came from the United States of America to ensure that the initiative is achieved,” minister Bol said.
Nyibol Gop Kuac, the representative of the donors, said that three of them have donated what they could to help the school.
“I have brought the school materials to these children and we are three people who supported the delivery. We thank God and thank the people who joined their hands in the project implementation,” she said.
