A fire brigade officer has been arrested over the killing of a colleague in Abiemnhom County of the Ruweng Administrative Areas (RAA) last week.
RAA Police Commissioner Maj Gen Yousif Abdalah Garang told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that he had confirmed that the suspect was arrested by police in Abiemnhom after he shot to death his counterpart due to a monthly allowance dispute.
“A dispute arose when a one-month salary was brought from Juba to Abiemnhom for all the organized forces and the fire brigade department,” said Garang.
He explained that someone who was not on the official list had demanded the allowance but was upset when the boss stopped him.
Garang said that the security situation had calmed down after the intervention of the security personnel.
The officer who killed his colleague, Garang said, would remain in detention awaiting trial.
“The incident happened at 3:20pm on Wednesday,” he added.
