Israa Ali, a resident of Goz Beida Refugee Camp which is hosting Sudanese refugees in Chad, has said she lost contact with her family in Erdamata since fighting broke out between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in Central Darfur in late October.

Ali explained to Radio Tamazuj that she contacted her brother, Najm Mohammed Abdul Rahman, who works with the Air Defense and was told that they were besieged by the Rapid Support Forces at that time. She did not know the rest of her family’s circumstances due to poor communication networks in the area.

She said that she lost her sister Marwa in the Al-Naseem neighborhood on 4 November after clashes intensified between the army and the RSF.

Ali called on the warring parties to open safe corridors for citizens, stop the fighting, and dialogue.
