A 24-year old University of Juba student was shot dead and two of his colleagues sustained gunshot wounds in Juba on Monday.
According to a relative to one of the students Jeremiah Gai, the students were coming to the United Nations Protection of Civilian site (UN POC 3) in Juba before they were attacked.
“Four students were heading home, three of the were walking ahead and the other behind them. While walking, they met the Tiger soldiers in military uniform. They asked why they were walking on the side of the road and then immediately ordered them to sit down. But before they sat, they started shooting at them. Two were injured and the other was shot, he fell and shortly died,” Gai said.
The deceased identified as Gatkor Gatgok Luor, was a student at the University of Juba school of Management, a teacher at a primary school within the camp and a youth leader.
Gai accused government soldiers of unnecessarily targeting civilians from the UN POC camps in Juba.
However, the government military spokesman Lul Ruai Koang said he had no information regarding the incident.
