Congolese Pastor Killed in Yambio

The police in the Western Equatoria State capital Yambio have said an evangelical pastor from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was stabbed to death by his neighbor whose wife went to the churchman for prayers.

According to the state’s acting commissioner of police, Major General Isahak Abud William, the 21-year-old pastor identified as Pasca Minisane Flori was stabbed to death by a man called Dominic Joseph Bafuka.

“On Friday night, we had an incident in an area called Napile where a person stabbed was stabbed. Both the deceased and the killer were staying in the same compound. We have taken the body to the hospital for postmortem” he said.

Gen Abud said that according to preliminary investigations, the killing resulted from a misunderstanding after Bafuka’s wife went to the pastor and asked him to pray for her to conceive.

“Based on the investigation, there was a problem between two living together in the same compound. The wife of the person who killed the pastor went to the pastor asking him to pray for her to get a blessing for a pregnancy,” he explained. “When the woman went to the pastor to ask him for a blessing, the pastor told her to go to the church so that he could pray for her but the husband was not aware that his wife was regularly walking to the church for prayer and this is why the man decided to kill the pastor.”

Gen. Abud said the killer has been arrested and will face the law. He called on the citizens of Yambio to keep in touch with the police by reporting any crime-related cases to them since the crime rate is on the rise.
