97 suspected gang members arrested in Aweil state: official

More than 95 suspected members of a local criminal gang popularly known as ‘niggers’ who have been terrorizing the people of Aweil State were arrested by police on Tuesday and Wednesday.

More than 95 suspected members of a local criminal gang popularly known as ‘niggers’ who have been terrorizing the people of Aweil State were arrested by police on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Aweil state deputy police commissioner, Brigadier General Pinydiing Makuach Kuol, said the gangs have been causing insecurity in the state warning that this will not be allowed to continue.

He said those arrested on Tuesday have been prosecuted.

“We arrested 45 are now in prison for six months and fine of 70,000 SSP. The concept of niggers to be above the government is not acceptable. We have also arrested 53 last night but 1 escaped they are going face the same punishment,” he explained.

Makuach urged families to advise their youth to stop criminal activities saying the security forces will ensure all gang members are arrested.

“The niggers are destabilizing security in Aweil town and its suburbs, the government ordered families to talk with their relatives to refrain barbaric activities but they failed to listen to the order,’’ Makuach said.

According to Makuach, security forces started a joint-operation early this week aimed at restoring security in Aweil town.
