At least nine people including a woman were killed and 10 others wounded in an attack carried out by gunmen at Male area in Guit County in South Sudan’s Northern Liech State on Monday, a local official said.

Northern Liech Minister of Information Lam Tungwar told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the incident took place when gunmen came and opened fire on a commercial vehicle carrying civilians near Male area along the Guit-Bentiu road.

He pointed out that that the attack resulted in the killing of at least nine people including a woman and wounding of 10 others. He added that the wounded people were taken to hospital for treatment.

 “Nine people were killed and 10 others were injured when their car was attacked by gunmen on Monday morning,” said Tungwar.

The government official called on armed groups not to target civilians.
