82 feared dead in mine collapse in Sudan

Eighty-two (82) miners were reported killed in Jebel 'Amer in El Sareif Beni Hussein Locality in North Darfur on Tuesday after one of the wells collapsed in a tunnel, the independent Radio Dabanga reported.

A relative of one of the dead miners told Radio Dabanga that people have recovered 35 of the 82 miners who had registered their names before going down the excavation pit. 47 are reportedly still under the rubble of the collapsed well.

The relative said that they were not yet able to identify the dead who have been recovered.

In April 2013, a mine in Jebel 'Amer also collapsed. More than 60 miners were killed.
