At least 8 people were killed and other injured in an attack on al-Sanadra village in Abassiya area of Sudan’s South Kordofan State on Friday.
Residents of the village who gathered in the hospital where the victims’ bodies were brought called on the authorities to immediately bring the perpetrators to justice before burying the victims.
Multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that the Governor of South Kordofan visited Abassiya on Sunday and promised the residents to meet their demands, while the residents rejected to take the bodies of the victims for burial unless their demands are fulfilled.
The sources said the incident created fear and panic among the residents who are still gathered in the hospital and around the area.
South Kordofan has been witnessing a conflict between the government and the SPLA-North since 2011. It is not immediately clear whether the attack is related to this ongoing civil conflict.
