Warrap authorities have reported an attack in Mayen Jur in Gogrial East County, saying 8 people including 2 civilians and 6 soldiers were killed by rebels from neighboring Unity State.
Paul Dhol, the state’s information minister, told Radio Tamazuj the rebels were intending to raid cattle but were intercepted by security forces near the border between the two states.
The clash was also reported by SPLA spokesperson Philp Aguer, who told Voice of America on Friday that 8 people were killed and 11 wounded, among them 3 civilians and 8 soldiers.
Aguer also claimed that rebels are mobilizing to attack Ayod and Nassir, towns captured by SPLA in Jonglei and Upper Nile states.
