75 cattle raided from SPLA in Mayom County: official

About 75 cattle belonging to Sudan People’s Liberation Army were allegedly raided from Kureiyek Boma of Mayom County.

The Commissioner of Mayom County John Bol Mayak alleged that the raiders came from Mayen Jur in Warrap State. He said that his counterpart in Warrap State reported to him that raiders were returning to Mayen Jur from Mayom County.

“I have sent forces to Kureiye on my border with Mayen Jur of Warrap state where the cows were raided to curb down the raiders and to find out where they are and the cows in order to bring them to justice,” he told Radio Tamazuj.

The commissioner pointed out that there are a number of cattle raiders from Mayom in prison awaiting trial.

He also commented on a recent claim implicating the ex-rebels of the SSLA in raiding and being a security threat to Warrap. “Their presence means security, not insecurity – we enjoy full peace in Mayom and now you can see that people can move up to late at night,” he said.
