Health centres at Yida camp in South Sudan have complained of a lack of resources to support an increase in infections amongst children and mothers at the camp.
‘Families have to sleep on the ground because of a lack of matresses and shelter along with the cold weather, this is causing a significant rise in infections’, said Ezekial Quinn, a medical assistant at the camp.
The health centres are currently stretching resources to see around 700 cases a day, added Quinn.
He appealed to state authorities to provide the camp with more facilities to accomodate the large numbers of people seeking treatment at the camp.
