Pariang County Commissioner Monylang Manyiel says that SPLA forces fighting in oil-producing areas of the county have suffered casualties in recent clashes with the rival SPLA-IO faction.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Manyiel said the fighting at oil facilities in Unity started earlier this week and was still continuing by Wednesday. He added the rebels burnt down a hub for distribution of crude oil through Heglig in the Sudanese territory.

He further said seven SPLA soldiers were wounded in the fighting over the last two days. He also accused the Sudanese Armed Forces of helping the rebels to shell the oil facilities in Unity state. Radio Tamazuj could not independently verify the claims.
