At least 10 people were killed and several others injured in an attack in Koch County of Unity State on Tuesday, a local official said.
“Last month, a group of youth from Koch County raided cows from Rubkona County. So as a result, some government troops and the owners of the stolen animals were sent to Koch to recover the cows. But in the process, they were attacked, and seven people, including five soldiers, were killed,” Moses Ruai, the information secretary for the greater Leek/Rubkona community told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday.
He pointed out that several people were injured during the incident.
“Up to now, the wounded are still being transferred to Bentiu Hospital for treatment,” he added.
Chuol Samuel, the director-general in the state information ministry, confirmed the clashes and condemned the incident. He urged the rival youth groups to desist from violence as the government investigates the incident.
“Yes, we have heard about the incident. But we have not yet gotten the full report, “ Brigadier Santo Domic, the army SSPDF spokesperson confirmed.
