Local authorities in Tonj State said that at least seven people have been killed and dozens displaced in different incidents in Tonj State after attacks by gunmen since the beginning of the month.

Tobi Mawien, the deputy speaker of Tonj state Assembly, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the attacks were carried out by criminals believed to be from neighboring Gok state.

He further about 12 women were raped by the same criminals in the areas bordering Gok state over the weakened.

Mawien said these attacks have become frequent and prompted the state government to send a delegation to the affected areas at the beginning of the week.

According to Mawien, the authorities of the two neighboring states Tonj and Gok plan to deploy security forces along the border to protect citizens living there.
